123MB,
You have explained the situation and that you are unhappy with it but what you haven't done is explained what you have done about it.
The consensus seems to be that there is nothing really wrong with just about anyone being made project manager, so long as things are done right. It may...
You don't say much in your first post and it is only in your third post you give us a flow rate, but just the flow rate even though you then say you are batch dispensing and you don't tell us the batch size.
To give any kind of sensible answer requires sufficient information.
If you are...
Engineers need to be careful to whom they expose their humour.
I learned long ago that management have absolutely no sense of humour. They are highly suspicious of anyone who exhibits a sense of humour.
Management expect most employees to go around looking as close to committed dedicated...
Of course, there are two major problems with taking holidays:
1) the drama - it seems that it is while you are away that things happen. The company get's sold, goes bust, merges etc. Or some great scandal bursts into the world and is a memory when you return like an outsider. And some client...
Its a pity they don't also insist we only work our contractual hours.
It would be nice if, when doing a standard week's work (i.e. about 20% more hours than the hourly paid) and then spending the whole weekend in another country on trials weekend after weekend for a couple of months, HR would...
Dave, I sure hope it wasn't you who bought the beer. What were you doing even drinking with him/her?
(PS, reminder to self, short fuses are: Snorgy for MBAs, Dave for HR, self for Bill Gates).

Seems like there is a legal obligation on the engineer and no equivalent legal obligation on the company. This is where regulation has a positive role.
How to motivate the regulators is the question.

By the way, help with Crane calculations is available at www.Cheresources.com
They love this kind of thing there.
They also have a forum especially for those people not allowed to post here.

I am not sure we should countenance such heresies as suggesting that HR has some value even if only in some cases.
It may be true, I cannot possibly comment, but it is perhaps better not to mention it.[smile]

Let's be sure we identify the problem clearly.
In theory there is nothing wrong with project leadership and management being performed by non-engineers.
It is where the lines are drawn over who has what responsibility and liability.
You don't, as the saying goes, keep a dog and bark yourself...
AT some point you will have to get tough with your boss (not one of those who won't ask his troops to do what he is not prepared to do.... if you have to cancel he should cancel!).
If this is an ongoing resource problem then either they need to live with it or let you have more and better...
And it went down hill from there.
Well it would, wouldn't it.
Never trust anyone in business these days.
Never assume or presume.
IP is a tricky issue and depends on the country.
In the US the employer thinks he owns everything and can make it stick.
In the UK the inventor owns the...
I can't find it now but there was a report I found on the internet that showed that water taken from two different lake sources, each with their own chemistry, were combined in a pipeline and yet some considerable distance down the pipe they were still found to be largely discreet flows...
Interesting points raised here.
ISO 8217 2005E is a standard for marine fuels which says that the fuels shall be fully homogeneous.
Unfortunately they don't say what they mean by homogeneous, not a whisper, and no indication that true homogeneity is a pipe dream. (especially with marine fuels)...
Well, yes.
Reading the May 2012 report and looking at the data what made me curious was why the treated oil seems to show no temperature viscosity effects.
This isn't explained.
Nor do they say how viscosity was measured which, since this is all about viscosity, seems a significant oversight...
Well, normally it's snake oil time when anyone talks about using electric charges/magnets etc to improve fuel efficiency, but when it comes to viscosity reduction, a US Department of Energy Test seems to show a significant temporary reduction in crude oil viscosity using the STWA device
As I...
I am not happy with the idea of relying on there being sufficient pressure in the suction line to the booster pump - I am concerned about cavitation and/or bubbles in the sensor. Hence I want to be sure I can kill them off/ minimise using a circulation pump.
Not sure I can rely on the pressure...
