Plastic / GRP Piping material for sea water duty.

Hi, Can anyone recommend what material to use for pipework carrying seawater? I was considering going to a glass fibre reinforced plastic system. Is there a recommended plastic to use? Pipe sizes range from 10inch to 20 inch. Pressure is only a few bar. Our existing piping is internally painted...

    Natural Gas Isolation Ball Valves

Hi, I am looking for recommendations for ball valves for isolation of natural gas fuel supply to our power station in the UK. Sizes range from 8inch to 12 inch ASA 300. Our existing valves are PTFE seated and have suffered from scoring due to dirt in the pipeline. Even the valves downstream of...

GT 9FA increased proximity readings at TE of generator

We also have 9FA and had lots of cross fire tube leaks. Did the replacement of your cross fire tube gaskets solve your vibration problem?

    Elin Generator

You're right its quick. We have tried different grades of brushes and tried extending interval. We only change maximum of a quarter of the brushes at any one time so the new ones get a chance to bed in.

    Elin Generator

Hi, Does anyone have an Elin (Austria) 9A5 Type generator at their plant? We have a 140MW generator but must carry out brushgear replacement every 6 weeks which has to be done with the machine on turning gear. We want to upgrade to allow us to do the brushgear change onload. Elin have proposed...

an unknown event in gas turbine

Definately need more info, but I have seen similar problems with my GT when we've had problems with our gas fuel supply -eg loss of performance heating or even a dodgy input into our gas chromatograph throws out the Wobbe index correction which deloads the GT. Send some more information.

    Documentation

Hi, My UK based company owns/operates a liquid CO2 system for fire fighting purposes. MAOP is 22 Barg. The liquid CO2 is distributed by various sizes of pipes the largest being 100mm to the different areas. We have no technical documentation on the pipework - no material certs, welding records...

Disposal of waste oil using it as turbine fuel.

You could most probably add the waste oil to the fuel oil, but I doubt if this mix would comply with the OEM fuel spec for the machine. And if the machine is under warranty or some sort of long term service agreement then you could find yourself out a lot of money if something goes wrong and...

    HRSG Diverter Dampers

We have a frame 9F GT followed by HRSG. During commissioning it was found that there was a lot of vibration of the HRSG tubes (vertically hung). There was a lot of damage caused to the tube restraints and these had to be repaired and replaced with a much heavier support. What do you mean by...

    Automatic cleaning tube condenser

ReyesLeon, We have a Taprogge system installed at the power station I work at. It is used in a 150MW condenser with sea water as the cooling medium. We used to have many problems with loosing the balls but I now think this was due to the cleanliness of the seawater -the ball strainer would get...

    Coding equipment in a plant

I work on a power station which uses the KKS labelling system(Kraftwerk-Kennzeichen-System). This is a European standard which means the numbering is consistent across many plants, eg. the boiler feed pump on my plant will in theory have the same identifier as one in Germany. This way everyone...

    Copper tube bend failure

Hello, Need some help finding the cause of a failure of a copper tube bend on a small HVAC split unit. The 6mm copper pipe carries R422 refrigerant and has failed at least 3 times now on the inside of the bend. The bend was made using a pipe bender. The failure appears to be a pin hole failure...
