Tried to do - it does not work. Get N/A in lieu of mass, area etc.
BTW, we are large company and all the software is legal ... So I am starting to guess that there is a ..... in the software ...
I experimented with <MASS\P2;> a bit, I think contrary to what you say it is a perfectly legal thing coming from Inventor - it means Precision 2 decimal places.
I guess the error is somewhere earlier - somwhere "between" part and drawing, or perhaps even at the part/assy level ...
Interesting ... If you try to edit it, a window pops up saying Type: Physical Properties - Model, Property - MASS.
If you "enter" it by icon on the right, it shows up in the window below as <MASS>, but when you finally hit OK and exit that pop up window it shows up in the Title Block (which is...
On the *.ipt under iProperties, tab Physical I have mat'l, density and Mass=12.66 kg (Area etc).
Yet on .idw I get N/A for <MASS\P2;>
Obviously something is wrong, but what ??
Inventor 2008 - What to do so the mass of a part "propagates" to next assy - to next assy etc - to part dwg - to assy dwg.
Have had 5.5 years on Solid Works (till very recently). Know $PRP etc. Now have to use Inventor - 3 day experience.
Thanks for all the answers.
Regg, thanks, I tought of it too, but of course it becomes a pure madness and absurd as you remarked if you have an assy of 100 parts and you have to do it the hard way :-( :-(
Not to mention the fact that the size of all detail dwgs would become hudge too ...
Thanks to all for the replies.
In the company I work for they want to have number of parts needed for assy to be also specified on detail dwg.
For example on PIN.slddwg there should be a note saying: 2 required.
I know that QUANTITY appears automatically on the BOM of the assy dwg.
Is it possible to somehow "link" that...
I my opinion very good. I wish Matt also wrote "Bibles" on SW Surfacing and Sheet metal. In the SW Bible he spends quite a few pages on those subjects, but I have a feeling he knows much much more on the subjects than it's in the SW Bible ..
Matt Lombards Bible is very good - I am just following the tutorials and exaples from the CD.
On page 290-291 there is a 3D Curve Driven Pattern (figure 8.15). The model is on the CD and I can not figure out how the "spiral" curve was created on the body. I presume the Surface-Sweep1 was...
On my computer McAfee could NOT be turned off permanently for installation. No matter what we did, it would come back on after about 2 min. We ended up by completely removing McAfee, doing clean installation and then re-installig McAfee.
Is there anyway to PERMANENTLY turn off McAfee for the...
- It looks like I was wrong - it's the size of the font in ASSY that controls the size of the font in the eDrawings.
- It looks like the following is still valid:
Some progress:
- It looks like in Properties--> Document--> Annotations Display the box Always Display Text at the same size must be cleared in details and assy (where you do the annimation).
- It looks like the first Part1 you put into the assy controls the size of the (dimensions) font in...
I made another simple assy and an animation. From the beginning I used smaller font size and it looks like it remains the same (smaller) size in the eDrawing animation.
Need to do more "research" in this area - could it be that eDrawings "remembers" original size of part that had had the bigest...
