Selective Loading in the assembly navigator

Component Groups is exactly what I was looking for, but I will try the other options as well; the learning never stops. Thanks all for your help. 'ziner

Selective Loading in the assembly navigator

I'm coming back to NX after running Catia for the last 7 years. There was a function in NX, I believe was called "selective loading", that was essentially a "categories" for the assembly navigator. It allowed the user to created nodes in the assy navigator that allowed the user to open certain...

Chain dimensions using Basic number x and = sum

Thanks for replying Kenat. Fig. 1-54 shows the method that I was looking for, but doesn't use BASIC dimensions; probably why I didn't see it when I was "scouring" the standard. The only usefulness I can see in this method is a little effort saved by a lazy draftsman, since the stackups will be...

Chain dimensions using Basic number x and = sum

I have scoured my copy of ASME Y14.5 1994 looking for the dimensioning for multiple holes that uses a BASIC hole to hole dimension x the number of holes = the sum of the BASIC dimension x the number of holes. I have been told that it is legal, but I can't find it in the standard. For my money...

    Using Logical Statements with Expressions

    Thanks John and Taylor.

    Using Logical Statements with Expressions

Thanks, John. Only one more question, where do I find the commands? I'm just back on NX after 5 years of Catia, still learning where all the buttons are.

    Using Logical Statements with Expressions

Way back in UG version 16 I designed a complex dynamic assembly in which I used logic statements (if-then, etc.) Does that function still exist in NX? Also, as I recall, UG had its own format for the various statements. Thanks for any info on this.

When using the Inch standard, is it mandatory to use 3 decimals in the feature frame?

I have always seen 3 decimal places in the feature frame when using the inch standard. It seems worthless to include the superfluous zeroes in the dimension, just for the purpose of consistency with the feature frame. For instance, the dimension is .xx, the positional tolerance is .xx. Does...

Using 1 hole from hole pattern as a datum

My reading of the Standard is that the B datum, when applied to a cylindrical feature, whether a hole or a shaft, establishes X and Y planes. With the addition of the A datum (perpendicular to the B datum) controlling the Z axis, the tolerancing framework is complete. The C datum shown in...

Who knows where the Custom Toolbar files are stored?

Fernando, you ARE "the man"! Thank you.

Who knows where the Custom Toolbar files are stored?

I've been on a new job for 3 weeks: finally feeling comfy; set up all my custom toolbars the way I like them, etc. Now I am informed that I have been working on the wrong server; so, I launch from the "new" server, and my toolbars are non-existent. I'm sure they are saved somewhere in a file...

Editing a sketch sometimes locks up Catia

Have you tried launching the sketch editor in different ways, such as double clicking on the sketch itself (on the screen, not in the tree), or double clicking twice on the part to launch the "Definition" window and then picking the Sketch icon there?

    Toolbars Not Available, Toolbars Disappeared

Is it just me, or is the Measure toolbar not available in Product Structure mode? I look in the toolbar list and don't see it. Also, the Constraints and Manipulation toolbars have disappeared and don't show in the toolbar list. WUWT? Thanks 'ziner PEACE THROUGH SUPERIOR FIREPOWER!

    Layer Masking in Drawing Views

Hello, Is it possible to use layering to prevent certain items from appearing in drawing views? I have a top assembly that interfaces with several subassemblies. Each of these subassemblies occupies the same space, but at different intervals in the fabrication process. I would like to show a...

Is there a way to determine the history of a file?

I'm working at a small firm that doesn't have a PDM system; all the Catia files are stored on a common server that can be accessed by almost everyone. When I open a file and it has changed since the last time I saved it, I need to determine whether someone else made changes. Is there a history...

plus/minus symbol appears in constraint dimensions

Good answers, guys. Thanks for your help. 'ziner Peace Through Superior Firepower!

plus/minus symbol appears in constraint dimensions

When I create a constraint, the plus/minus symbol appears at the end of the dimension. The symbol appears in sketches and in assembly constraints. It doesn't affect anything, apparently, but is just annoying. The default setting in drafting mode is to show dim's without the symbol. How can I...

Which tool steel is the best for welding?

I am designing an assembly fixture that will require a welded tool steel sub assembly. What is the best tool steel for welding? Anything that is heat treatable to 60-65 RC will suffice for my application. Thanks.

How do you determine gage hole size using RFS.

IMHO, I liked it better when the designer had to specify the M, L OR S. Now an oversight on the engineer's part, accidentally omitting the modifier, may give a result that was not desired or intended. But, that's for another post...
