Is there a quick and easy way to do a rough calculation for Gas Load on a building? I am looking to figure out a rough BTU/sf for a building in Conneticut. I want to include a rough calculation for heating the makeup outdoor air as well (say from 10 deg to 70 deg?). This is just a quick...
I am using the Bell & Gossett ESP selection program to choose a pump. When I generate the curve I would like to be able to select the ISO Style curves and Display Max/Min Imp. Curves but those selections are grayed out. Does anyone know how I can generate those graphs?
My husband and I moved up from Florida and bought a house that was built in 1928. The furnace is from 1997 and is gas. It also has an april aire system for humidification. This is our first winter with it and we have just started running it.
There is a hose running from the april aire and...
I am trying to figure out how to size an expansion tank for a chiller system. I know all my gpm but I need the total system volume. Is there a quick and easy way to figure this out?? Are there charts out there that I can look at the Chiller tons and get a quick approximation of the total...

I wasn't trying to say that men and women are the SAME but I do believe they are EQUAL. I just feel its inappropriate to make comments such as "I know you are a girl, but try reading....". I am not looking to be friends with the people I work with I just am tired of being put down...
Thanks everyone for your replys.
Some things that jump out to me. Those of you who say to avoid it, that is impossible since comments and such are made while I am sitting at my desk working, I can't just not be there.
As for the idea of trying to fit in with the guys, I am not sure how fair I...
I am the only female engineer in my company. The company itself has approximately 16 employees and 3 owners, we have a female secretary and one of the owner's wife works part time as the Office manager. I have been an employee for 2.5 years and this is my first job out of college.
I have...
Thanks for the post. I agree that the 13 degree dT seems very low for (2) 20hp pumps. Can you tell me where ASHRAE states the guideline for the pump heat gain?
Thanks for the reply. I am sorry, I really should have clarified that I don't have a good concept of what the intake air temperature is going to be. This room is in a ventilated garage that is partially buried underground. I am obviously trying to figure out worst case scenario. This...
I am trying to figure out the temperature of the air that I am ventilating from a pump room to decide whether it needs to be exhausted to the outdoors. I have (2)20hp pumps, I have done a rule of thumb to figure out the Btuh that these will be giving off and came up with 15026 Btuh. (110 Watts...
