This is a very good question as I have a CNG vehicle that I park outside and would like to know SOMETHING about how to rate a dry chemical extinguisher -
There is a fine point as to what's killed steel.
In particular I refer to ASTM A-6 ,Paragraph 8.0.
A-6 states that the minimum Aluminum must be 0.020 %
MINIMUM.
This is the same language as in A - 20.
Need a lot more input -
a) what is the pressure ? diameter ????
b) what is the distance ?
c) what type of soil -
dry / wet / what chemistry and
electrolytes ??????????????
d) any big power lines...
In the case of 17 - 4 PH there is an "adjusted "
chemistry material called 15 - 5 PH which is a lot more likely to be martensitic. 15 - 5 PH has a lot less banding.
Thi primary cause of this is the chemistry ( Cr - Ni )
ratios and a whole bunch of this is due...
Look CLOSELY at ASME Section IX , Paras QW 452.3
and QW 452.4 .
Both of these paragraphs specify as a lower O D
limit for less than 1 " od that the OD qualified
is the size welded . ( versus the 2 3/8 " specimen )
To qualify for a 1/2 " pipe you...
This is in follow -up to my previous post regarding
a 316 L stainless piping system which has developed
a whole bunch of small leaks -
Was in the receiving area today looking at some new ASTM
A -312 Grade 316 L . Pipe size is 14 " Schedule 10 S. While the O. D. of the weld seam
was smooth...
We have the second of our Ozone plants on line. The plants are processing / using the same source water.
This is all well and good but on the second plant on - stream we seem to be experiencing through the weld leaks.
The pipes in question operate at ~ ~ 4 p H.
We have not had problems with...
I am in industry and am proposing use of AN fittings
in one of our applications. My question is what is the
maximum working pressure for 7075 " W " versus 2024
" D " material. The particular fitting size is - 4 ,
1 / 4 "
The primal work on this subject is Kookenboo " Production
Functions of various size pipelines " where is developed the cost function factor of .4 exponential factor
