Hi Dennis,
Make sure you haven't accidentally hit Num Lock and turned off the keypad! It would still accept entry with the top numerical keys and scroll wheel.
Just a thought :-)

Hi Rick,
Thanks for you comments and glad you have at least got to your missing list items, it should now default to Part until you select something else! Not sure if you actually will need to re-install though as I think you may have misunderstood me.
You can't move the list's position on...
Hi rick,
As you can see from the attached image, the File Type box sticks out quite a way, but even then, not enough to show all the Mesh file options [evil]

Hi Rick,
You should be able to move the whole "Open" Window to the left by putting the cursor on the window'a title bar and then left mouse click, hold and drag, note that it will tend to snap back to the edge if not moved far enough.
Alternatively, move the cursor to the extreme right of the...
Hi aidrock,
The word "end" in these defects is used to refer to the nominal length at each end of the bar that likely contains defects and should really have been cut-off and binned before we got it. Some defects such as Pipe or Funnel are limited to the core of the extrusion and while most of...
Hi aidrock,
I'm pretty certain that what's giving you problems are what's known as Back-end, Butt-end or Bar-end Defects; we had problems with this a few years ago on both round and flat extruded bar, it didn't show up on the machined part, but after anodising, some would show a distinctive...
Sorry it's a bit late, but I've only just seen this, but what you describe seeing is familiar to me from a couple of years ago before the "Quick Filter" icons were added. I'm not sure that there is a setting that defines the default option, but the File type pop-up seems to remember what was...
Hello Antoine,
I assume that the belt length is not computed correctly because it's not pulled against the face of the slot you want to clamp it into and the Belt mate won't allow the face of the slot to control it? If so, it may be possible to fool it by positioning a couple of "dummy" idler...
Hi arsolidworks
I created something similar a while back and found that the only way to make the belt "drive" the carriage was to create an additional Rack and Pinion Mate using an edge of the carriage parallel to the travel and one of the pulleys as Mate reference selections and then...
Justin,
I don't know if this is relevant to your problem; but not being too familiar with the DWG editor, it had me puzzled for a while.
I'd been down the path of making sure of sheet scales and even created a "Full size" DXF/DWG sheet for exporting large items to avoid annoying error...
They're normally installed in C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\lang\english\color swatches
When in SolidWorks, you might also want to check Tools>Options>System Options>File Locations and make sure that "Color Swatches" is pointing to this folder.
Immediately above the now "Grey" Swatch box is a dropdown list box, I can't see from your image what it says, but if you open the list and select "Standard", you should get what you want back, now save the file to keep this swatch for next time.
It is possible to arrive at this situation by...
Probably not the cause in your case, but worth checking anyway. SW doesn't handle files it cannot find very well or indeed consistantly; so if a file has been opened, saved as something else and the original deleted, or if a file has been opened over a network, from a computer that isn't running...
DerrickM,
With regard to your question, I usually do try to apply the mates as directly as possible to their relevant parts, with the hope that it makes it simpler for the software to evaluate if the move will be within limits, without having to check first if the mates on some intermediate...
I've used that combination without problems too. Did you first locate the screw into its mating part with a concentric mate and then add the screw mate? Because when you select the axes of rotation for the Screw Mate, they make the previous Concentric mate redundant. It doesn't seem to matter...
One of the "probable other" reasons that CBL mentions; is that if you pass the model into a CAM package that has automatic feature recognition, it will regard all cut-holes as circular pockets and try to interpolate them whatever their diameter or aspect ratio, and so will require manual...
Hi Chris,
You said "I can't get far enough to open the file to make the assy lightweight. When I click on 'open', SW locks."
I believe that in SW09, assemblies default to opening in lightweight, certainly I've found that the checbox for this in the "File open" dialog is always checked, whereas...
15EA (Geotechnical),
First let me point out that I have no experience with soil anchors. However, I have seen quite a few auger type lifting screws made by the type of ad hoc methods described in many web articles and basically the same as you are intending to try, and they were very good for...
15EA,
The auger you describe is quite a serious bit of bending and welding; can't you get them made for you by someone who already makes helical earth anchors and has all the right equipment and knowledge, I expect something this size is probably quite small in the offshore oil industry. It may...
This behavior used to be a real PITA to me up to and including SW2007; it only seemed to occur after that part of the main view window had been occupied by the tree which had been kicked off its usual position by editing something that brought up a property sheet and it would remain a no...
