Hi!
Does anybody know how to determine the minimum yield strength for pipeline materials like e.g. L360 (or API 5L X52) above 60°C.
As per EN 1594, above 60°C min. yield strength should be corrected taking the temperature into consideration.
Hi!
Does anyone have experience with allowable nozzle loads of tanks made of plastic i.e. polyethylene?
I'm trying to find any reference in literature, standards, and norms that could put me on the right track.
I need to do a stress analysis for a couple of DN100 stainless steel pipes...
Actually it has nothing to do with protecting sensitive equipment (MSE).
We have rather high piping loads being transferred to the support structure (8m high frame) foundation e.g. 130-200kN depending on the axial stop location on this long pipe run.
We are talking about 42" flare line located...
Hi!
I have a question regarding the expansion loop design and placement of anchor points. Does it make any sense to place an anchor in the middle of the expansion loop?
The conventional way (and the proper way) is to put anchor on both sides of the loop in order to use it´s inherent...
Hi guys!
Thank you very much for all the replies, it has been a mess for me this last couple of months :(
Anyhow, we are in court now with this issue so I´ll tell you the outcome when there is one.
Of course, the contractor didn´t want to hear anything about mutually trying to come up with a...
Hi!
Short question...does anyone know whether there is a written statement inside EN 13480 (or other EN/DIN norms) norms which excludes which pipes/lines should be hydrotested.
Our subcontractor for piping erection claims that small bore pipes i.e. < DN50 don´t have to be pressure tested. Is...
Hi!
We have a situation of a dispute with a delivery company about pipes we ordered from them.
In the project technical specification, it was clearly specified and underlined that only longitudinally welded pipes are acceptable for use in this project.
After we received their offer, we checked...
Hi!
Does anyone know if there is a standard which defines the length of bolts for EN flange connections i.e., flanges acc. to EN 1092-1 for welding neck flanges (Typ 11) for PN25?
I´m looking for something similar like the ASME B16.5 bolt lengths, but maybe such a thing is not standardized in...
Hi!
Has anyone had experience with bolt material 1.7709 / 21CrMoV5-7?
Can this material be used at Tmin= -20°C without the additional impact test at Tkv= -20°C or lower temperatures?
AS per EN 1515-4, this material can be used at temperatures Tmin >= -10°C.
Hi!
Additional info about the problem we are facing...
Detailed piping stress analysis is performed using ROHR2 (instead of CAESAR II) to verify the piping routing design compliance with the design code and to calculate the support loads, displacements...in case of rigid hangers also the...
Hi all!
Does anybody of you guys have any experience with installation of rigid hangers on a line which has big thermal displacements and consequently swing angles bigger than > 4° which is accepted worldwide as a industry standard for rigid hangers?
We would of course avoid this problem...
Does this mean that you whole support is made of stainless steel or only support base is made of CS? What kind of material is beam underneath the support made of?
Hi!
Based on your experience I would like to hear your opinion on this subject – piping supports for stainless steel pipe i.e. the problem of choosing the right material of piping support for stainless steel pipe.
My main concern is how to install/make a fix point for stainless steel pipe...
Hi,
can you please share your thoughts on the following matter.
I came across a piping spec from client for which a minimum design temperature boundary was defined at -10 °C. Accompanying design pressure at this temp. is 41.4 barg.
The class is based on ASME standards B31.3, B16.5 etc. The...
Hi,
I have a question regarding the selection of weldolets. Which criteria dictates the selection of weldolet schedule i.e. how to decide which schedule to choose out of available schedules STD/XS/160/XXS.
Is it defined by the wall thickness of run pipe i.e., if run pipe w.t. is schedule STD...
I just discovered that for NPS 4" pipe they intend to use schedule 30 for the A 312 TP316L pipe!? Is this even possible?
ASME B36.19 defines the wall thickness sizes for the stainless steel pipes.

Hi,
LittleInch you are right EN 14161 has it´s own paragraph where the calculation for hoop stress is defined, what I wanted to say is that the equation is "almost" the same as of EN 13480-3.
For EN 14161 for calculation of hoop stress you need to take into account the hoop stress design factor...
Actually, the design code is EN 14161, but for determining the wall thickness it relies on EN 13480-3.
I don´t think that the certifying agencies here are used to seeing this kind of combinations. My concern was also with the manufacturing of this kind of pipes, elbows...

Hi all,
quick question. Is possible to assemble a piping class based on a material according to European norm e.g. 1.4571 in combination with ASME B36.10/B36.19 standards for dimensions,
E.g. a pipe with 114.3mm x 4.78mm (STD 30 wall thickness acc. to B36.10) made out of 1.4571 material and not...
Tnx for the help. I also think that the best way to tackle this problem is to bend pipes on site, but the problem is that we are dealing here with pipes of NPS 6" and 12" so I'm afraid that these piping sizes are maybe difficult to bend. I thought that maybe miter bends can be of help in this...
