I installed and set up Teamcenter with NX 5 years ago. I currently administer the product and use it daily as I am a project engineer. I can't say that there have been any "horror stories" or "home runs" that the system has averted or been responsible for. It is for this reason I have not been...
Are you trying to do this as a one off in Excel or have it stored in TC?
One idea would be to flatten the BOM. You could create a separate BOM style in Teamcenter that would hold the flattened BOM. Or you could write some VBA in excel to output part totals in a separate column.

Hello,
I am using Teamcenter 8.3. I have a situation where I have a part "A" in many assemblies. Some of these assemblies have status and some do not. I want to replace part "A" with part "B" in all the assemblies. I am looking for options/possibilities. Some of the tasks that I would like to...
Normally it is connected to a hydraulic power source up to 500 PSI. You would have to disconnect it or close it off an tee in the gauge. That's what I'm inquiring about, is there something that I could put inline or tie in to measure the volume?
Hello,
Thanks for your posts. Lets try this with more specifics. This is for a clutch/brake application. See attached sketch. The piston stops once it reaches the disc pack. The spring force has to be overcome to move the piston. As the disc pack wears, the piston will move further. I really...
Hello,
I have a chamber that is made up of a cylinder and a piston. It takes 20 PSI to 42 PSI (As the piston actuates further due to spring force) to move the cylinder. This chamber is buried in equipment. I want to know how much volume it takes to move the piston til it stops. There is a...
Hello,
I would really appreciate some clarification on something.
-Rule 1: With no GD&T, a cylinder can be any size or shape as long as it fits within the maximum material condition and the least material condition.
-Concentricity, Controls the center of two diametrically opposite points...
I want to use this to place customer parts in an assembly, I don't have a customer part #, I would rather not create an alternate part # system, It will not work to give it one of our part #s. I would like to be able to retrieve these "parts", IE have them in some sort of library, in TC or on a...
Hello,
I am using Teamcenter to manage my data. I would like to add a part or model to an assembly as a reference component but I don't want to create an item to hold it. I know I can create a solid body in the assembly but I am looking for a better alternative.
Thanks
Thanks for all the advice, I did order both Roarks and a copy of Strength of Materials - Part II - Advanced Theory and Problems - Timoshenko. Our product is spinning a flat disc, I need to know how fast it can be spun.
Ron
Hello,
I would like to know how to determine the max RPM of a disc. I would think it would be the centrifugal force against the Yeild Strength. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron
I would like to add a note to the model, I don't want to have to start the drafting or create a sheet. I only mentioned the "link" as a possible work-around for what I really want to do. In the properties there is a place where I can add, well attributes, I need a place to add some text. There...
Hello,
I am using NX 7 and I would like to put a note in a model. An Engineering note. Maybe link to an external folder of text documents. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks
Ron
Hello,
I would like to know if anyone has found a way to export an assembly to a univeral format such that the entire assembly is one file. The flatten option on the iges translator will do this but the file is huge. Larger than if I don't flatten but then I get all individual components. So I...
I have some assemblies with different arrangements. Is there any way to display which arrangement is active or even allert someone that there is alternative arrangements in the assembly. maybe a way to post a note visible in the assembly navigator?
Thanks
Hello,
I am using NX6. I would like to know if there is a method to click on a part in an assembly and find all the constraints related to that part.
Thanks
I am also finding that the Siemens awnser is always their very expensive "Formal Training". If you are not a huge government contract company that can afford on the spot Siemens instructors you will need to find workarounds, untill your company can send you all over the country with hotel, car &...
Hello,
I started creating my drawings in the same file as the model. A Siemens representative has suggested, for good reason, to create a seperate drawing file that references the model. Can anyone tell me how I can "disassemble" my files and have my current drawings reference an external...
We just found out alot of info regarding this.
The awnser is the content migration manager (CMM). It does not have to work with Teamcenter but it is highly recommended, and for good reasons. There are some bugs but it seems far better than the alternative (redrawing everything).
Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to export a drawing from I-deas to NX with the drawing to model/Assembly associativity. I am running NX 5 & 6 W/ I-deas 5. I have been able to export models and assemblys.
Thank You,
Ron
