    Deaerator Design Specialists?

Thanks guys, The above mentioned co's do not only supply design as a stand alone. They prefer the package. Is there design specialists who do only that?

False floor replacement for corroded API 650 tank base plate

The client had asked for this configuration. I think they even explored the option of a concrete florr on top of the corroded base, but because of expansion issues and the clearance between the concrete and the shell, they opted for the above mentioned config. ThanksMJC...

Formula for Elbow under Internal Pressure?

Why cant one just base the calc on a straight pipe under int press? Just a ridiculous question from my side :)

    Lifting Lug Calculation

We normally call up standard lifting lugs according to DIN 28082. What is important though is that the stresses induced during lifting do not exceed the allowable stresses of the shell times 1,5. A WRC 107 analysis should suffice for this.

    Nozzle Loads

We are experiencing the same problem here in SA. Lately, the end user is not supplying nozzle loads in time (as the piping has not been designed yet), and the onus is left on the PV designer to specify the loads that the nozzles can take (WRC107). I usually make a note that the piping designer...

False floor replacement for corroded API 650 tank base plate

An existing tank has a base plate which has corroded to the point where the product is leaking into the soil underneath. Due to enviromental issues, we need to replace this base by raising the floor (for ispection) by means of ribs / webs. API 650 does give equations to calculate the distance...

Calculating MAWP of API 650 Fixed Roof Tank

What I normally do is have a wall thickness test done from the outset, and check the required thickness as per Paragraph 3.6.3 (One Foot Method). If the shell meets this criteria, then: 1. Calculate the total weight of the shell excl roof plates 2. Calculate the area resisting the compressive...

    Stacked Vessels

I have recently done a Zick Analysis for 3 stacked heat exchangers on the support design. AIA commented that this type of anaylsis is not recommended and that I should perform a FEA to determine bucling effects. Comments would be appreciated.

    Nozzles proximity

In South Africa, most Petrochemical Refinery standards will not allow toe to toe welds closer than 50mm apart. I dont think its an ASME requirement, but I'm sure theres a good reason for it. Dave

Pressure Vessel Courses in South Africa

Thanks guys, I have contacted SAIMechE and SAIW, unfortunately nothing is planned for the rest of this year. The company I work for has both CodeCalc, Compress & Optivessel. I'm sure as part of our license fee, hopefully, they can arrange a course? Otherwise Tom, I'm seriously going to look...

    Saddle design on 2,4m duct

unclesyd (Materials): Thanks for the input, but the problem I have in using reular pipe shoes, is that the structural engineers have only given me specific positions to place my support. The beam on which the saddle will rest is an I beam.
