Is anybody using the Professional version of Draftsight?

Why buy the cow when the milk is free? I've been wondering the same thing myself and the amount of affirmative responses this thread is getting answers the question I think. It may be worth contacting Dassault Systems and inquiring about a 1 month trial of the paid version. The sales guy could...

Most dangerous seat in a car?

Thanks for all the comments. What I was wondering initially was, with all things being equal, would a passenger or driver suffer more injuries due to seat belt position (going over one shoulder vs. the other effecting different organs). Greg brought up a good point about the steering column and...

How is this manufactured? I'm stumped

Really? Wow, I didn't realize that. The last time I had any contact with Radian was three jobs ago, so almost 12 years now. It was a custom heatsink project and all the engineering support and purchasing was done through Radian's California office, but I do seem to recall the actual fabrication...

How is this manufactured? I'm stumped

I've used Radian a looong time ago. They were pretty helpful and have a nice gallery of custom heatsinks and how they were manufactured.

Most dangerous seat in a car?

Interesting points, thanks for answering. What does OBE mean? Another thing I was looking up after I thought of this question is "what is the most common fatal car accident?" which according to this seems to be single vehicle/single driver accidents due to "Traffic Controls" that I don't quite...

Most dangerous seat in a car?

What is the most dangerous seat in car when a car crashes that has a passenger and driver? I was first wondering about seat position because depending on where you are sitting your seatbelt is either going over your left shoulder (driver) or right shoulder (passenger) and it would change which...

    Circle Esnaps behavior

Hi Clemington, I believe I have a similar issue. Unfortunately I do not have a solution but I do I have a workaround. What I do is place the center of the circle as usual, but when then to define the diameter, I click beyond the snap point. Then I select the circle, grab a square...

    Divide command?

Hi Rick, Not a problem, glad I could help. I wonder why the "divide" input didn't work... it must be that your command config file that does not have "divide=_markdivisions" in there for some reason. Best, Medeski

    Divide command?

Hi Fmath, Are you sure you have the latest version of Draftsight? What OS are you operating? Typing "divide" (no quotation marks)works on mine (Windows 8, V1R3.2 x64). Maybe try typing in "_markdivisions" (again, no quotation marks). Best, Medeski

    Divide command?

Hi Fmath, On the "modify" toolbar, there is an icon directly below (or to the right depending on orientation) the FILLET icon that is the SPLIT command. Now for whatever reason, there are two split commands, you want the first one. The description when hovering over the icon reads "BREAKS...

A free program that converts PDF's to DXF

Hi Al, Thank you, I will try it out. I forgot that I do not get notifications with threads I did not create, only replied to. I think I was trying to convert a PDF that was not generated by a CAD program. Best, Medeski

A free program that converts PDF's to DXF

Hi Toprak, I have tried to use Inkscape before to convert a PDF to DXF, but I could not get it to work. I forgot what problem I was having, but I seem to remember nothing appearing in the DXF file that I outputted. Do you have a PDF that worked for you? What options did you choose when...

ViewPortLayer ; am I dumber than usual?

Hi Mike, I was able to get it to work for me. I copy pasted the command prompt. The first 3 lines were automatically generated when I double clicked inside the viewport to get from pspace to mspace. Does it still seem like a lag issue? : _ACTIVATEVIEWPORT Default: 4 Specify viewport...

ViewPortLayer ; am I dumber than usual?

Hi Mike, Maybe I'm not completely understanding this, but did you try the freezing the layers using the drop down menu of the layers toolbar? I know that that freezes the layer in both mspace and pspace, but for the purposes of printing a drawing it may work. Best, Medeski
