    Puting a 4 link on a unibody???

NASCAR uses the 2-link with coilovers suspension. It's a design from old pickups, Chevy I think. The arms went from the axle to way up near the cab. My first thought is that if you went with a long 2-link, it would help with weight transfer to the rear axle due to leverage. Not sure without...

    Alloy crankshaft pulley

I'm pretty sure that engines are designed to be balanced well enough that a harmonic balancer should absorb/balance out a lot of the vibration. Reducing the weight of the pulleys actually reduces the inertia the engine has to overcome to accelerate. Reducing the engine pulley diameter slows...

    Puting a 4 link on a unibody???

How fast are you planning on running? The Ford 9" and the Dana 60 are bulletproof axles, but they're kind of heavy. With a light car and a C-clip eliminator kit, a Ford 8.8" would probably do the trick. A Mopar 8.75" would work too. If it sees limited street time, a spool instead of a diff...

    Puting a 4 link on a unibody???

You can get 'back-half' kits from Jegs or Summit that come with the trailing arms plus some weld-in frame rails. They're generic, but that could be a good thing. What do the drift guys do to the 240SX suspension/drivetrain to make it hold up? I know that's a popular car for drifting. I've...

    CMM Programming?

Thanks guys. Hudson, I know the machine can handle IGES files. I've had to construct surfaces through point data from the CMM and the data was IGES format. Which module do you need to run a drill cycle? (I'm willing to bet I don't have it anyways.)

    CMM Programming?

I understand completely. To be honest, your answer is exactly what I'm looking for, something to back me up when I tell him we need the software.

    CMM Programming?

Is it possible to program a CMM through NX? My boss insists there's a way to do it, but he doesn't know how. I showed him UGS's program for programming CMM, but he doesn't want to buy the software. I'm running NX4. Thanks, Jim

Honda Normally Aspirated B22 Exhaust Header Pipe Lenght?? Disscuss

I second what Pat says. To elaborate a little bit, the pipe diameter plays a critical role in the velocity of the exhaust gas charge. Too big a pipe leads to low exhaust velocities, killing the scavenging effects you're trying to get with headers in the first place. To understand the basics...

How effcient are current automatic transmissions

How does that work? If you're reducing the efficiency of your only variable, how can you increase overall efficiency?

making a tube type intake manifold

http://www.cliffordperformance.net/ http://www.hogansracingmanifolds.com/ Here are two places I know of that could be of help. Clifford makes a lot of pieces for inline six engines. Equalizing the fuel mixture between cylinders is a challenge with inlines, so their stuff should give you...

    Multiple fuel injectors

Drag racers use multiple injectors per cylinder, but only when they need more fuel than a single injector per cylinder can supply while maintaining a precise fuel curve. Otherwise it's not worth the hassle of tuning the system.

Ford Kuga Gear Ratio - Top Speed

I'm pretty sure highway fuel economy, not theoretical top speed, was the major factor in deciding the top gear ratio. The idea is to keep the engine at a low speed, say ~1800 RPM, at a common highway speed, say 70 mph (31 m/s). Any hard acceleration will likely drop the transmission into 5th...

large assembly model question (advanced assemblies)

Do they have an FTP site you could post to? That's how I have to get large files.

enhance gears for the subaru WRX

Racing gears aren't always stronger than street gears. I think it's Richmond that makes rear end gears intended for drag cars out of a softer metal so they're less brittle and don't strip the teeth on a hard launch. They will wear out faster than the normal street gears however.

    Boron Nitride engine oil additive

I think you could rebuild the engine a couple times for the cost of those fancy additives over the life of an average diesel, especially with that Ceratec going for ~$27 a bottle. http://www.duw.de/shop/detailview.aspx?catalogproductid=64306&affiliateid=1 Figuring a diesel will last ~200,000...

How to delete an Array component?

In NX4, you can't delete the master component of an array before the array. First go to Assemblies -> Edit Component Arrays and delete the array first. If you want to keep the parts, choose Delete Array, if not choose Delete All. Then you can delete the master component

    Lost Toolbar

I seem to have misplaced my Assemblies toolbar and I can't find it. I turned off all the other toolbars while leaving the Assemblies checked and it doesn't reappear. Is there any way to make it reappear? Thanks, Jim

    Override dimension value

I can't get the dimension to disappear completely, but if you put your "Mill this area" in an annotation and make the dimension text height really small, it looks like there's no dimension. I had to change an dimension value on an existing print without modifying the part and it worked fairly well.

ideal PC spec for UG - dual core - quad core?

It's not my call on the RAM. I'm supposed to have NX6 already too, but the IT guy is "too busy" to install it.
