I think you've mis-typed the equation, the ALI before the error should be 1 (unitless) ALI and r should have units of length. You also appear to have added an extra variable at the start of the equation that isn't in my copy of the DNV doc.

For those pressures, temperatures and fluids (I'm assuming the wells you're logging are as unpleasant as the ones I've worked with) and assuming unidirectional sealing (i.e. you only need to keep pressure out) I'd be looking at pressure enrgised metal seals.

I've normally used the relevant bit of DNV 2.7-1 but I believe there may be a new publication by DNV that is more specific to lifting equipment.

Can anyone tell me why the Global criteria required factored load combination in table 5.5 is higher than the local criteria one and could be higher than the hydrostatic test one.
