    Revamping the PE liscensing Process?

I think your example raises a very good point. The PE process has created a system that instills a great deal of trust in a few individuals. It has also created a system through the industrial exemption that allows for product failure due to companies having deeper pockets. I have worked...

    Revamping the PE liscensing Process?

RDK The MRB signoff for aerospace products in the US does put the individual on the line with the company. In fact, a PE and an individual with MRB authority are seen no differently within torte law. The topic of conversation is revamping the PE process. Would one not want to know that...

    Revamping the PE liscensing Process?

Rick Kitson, I think you are using a poor example when you comment on aircraft design. The FAA governs the business, and they do a much more stringent job than any state board. In addition, any design that is issued from a manufacturer that will be used on any US registered aircraft must be...

    Mechanical Properties of Aluminium Alloys

MIL-HDBK-5H has outstanding testing data (used exclusively, with manufacturer proprietary data, in aerospace), and can be downloaded for free. You can also use the "Aluminum Design Manual 2000" by The Aluminum Association. This manual is somewhat limited in that it is used for civil...

    none conductive coating

I would suggest Tedlar or the use of fiberglass resin. You will of course have to abrade the contact surface, but both products are cheap and user friendly.

    Engineering in Maine

Thank you Rich2001. I greatly appreciate the information. I had no idea that Maine did not have an idustrial exemption! What has that done to their engineering population? Do people go out of state to practice if they do not want to get their license?

    Engineering in Maine

Does anyone have insight as to the prospects for a mechanical engineer in Maine? What is the job market like?

    Revamping the PE liscensing Process?

Some states are currently addressing, or have addressed, this very issue. For example, Texas just released a letter from the state attorney general stating engineers practicing within the industrial exemption without a license may not use the title of engineer on letters, business cards, etc...
