I think there a need to analyze and design both tower types to determine which is cheaper.There are lots of factors affecting the cost of tower. One factor is the design method (ASD or LRFD) you use.The type of conductor you use will also affect the cost of your structure.

What I mean is how do they calculate the sag and tension of a new trasnsmission line, 230 KV, with a ruling span of 1000ft and a maximum wind velocity of 200 KPH. I want to calculate it by hand (using spreadsheet).
