ST interface is terrible - any band aids?

Scott, Kenat, Mark - Thanks for your input. Mark, wow, reading your blog may help restore my faith in Solidedge, and was exactly what I was looking for. I tend to work the same way, with my left hand on the keyboard. Can you help me with a few questions: 1. So, I switch between windows a...

ST interface is terrible - any band aids?

Beachcomber - Thanks for the reply: eloquent and informative. English must be your first language. Schipperus - Thanks also for your reply. My previous post I meant Alt+F (versus Alt+A or AB) not Cntl+F as posted. I must disagree that the shortcuts are faster though. Example1: to get to File...

ST interface is terrible - any band aids?

Gemnoc, Your are mis-interpreting what I'm asking for. Obviously the standard keyboard shortcuts (cntl+S, P, etc) are fine. BUT have you have ever used MS Office 2007 and previous versions of Office?? If you have will note the BIG differences between it and SolidEdge ST (v100) interface. For...

ST interface is terrible - any band aids?

    1) Yeah. Tried a search on UI, interface, v100, or ST lately for the "UGS: solid edge forum" only? The solid edge forum comes up empty for some reason... 2) All the threads I found are just people talking about how difficult it is - not a reasonable SOLUTION, like having a pre-loadable keyboard...

ST interface is terrible - any band aids?

I've held out upgrading to Solid Edge ST (v100) until three weeks ago. I am a long time Solidedge use since v11. I'm still using "traditional" modeling so no problem there, but am struggling with the using the new Ribbon (MS Office 2007) interface. I use a 3-button mouse and otherhand on...

Multiple Assembly Parts List in SE?

DY- The Occurrence Prop. only refers to the "Quantity" column of the drawing Parts List for a single assembly file. We're trying to find an effective way to display two column quantities for two variants of an assembly. Scott - good point. Don't forget to "add" yourselves to the Enhancement...

Multiple Assembly Parts List in SE?

Thanks Scott. From the GTAC newsgroup, there was a similar work-around: Create a two custom properties "QTY-1" and "QTY-2" for each part. Build a PL using these custom property columns for the -1 and -2 assembly quantities. Then adjust custom field quantity QTY-1 and QTY-2 to be the correct...

Multiple Assembly Parts List in SE?

ER 5656545 Text: This custopmer frequently generates Draft files containing more than one assembly. They would like to be able to combine those assemblies into a single composite parts list in the Draft file. Status: NR (U) "Not Reviewed, Unresolved" Opened date: 28-nov-2006 07:29:06 In my...

Multiple Assembly Parts List in SE?

Hi All, This post started in thread1103-221577 (Drafting) and as requested I want to continue it here. I have put in an IR to GTAC, but have not received an answer yet. To Recap my Problem: My company historically uses Multiple Assembly Parts Lists on our drawings. For example, an assembly...

Multiple Assembly Parts List, MIL-STD-100 then and now

My company historically uses Multiple Assembly Parts Lists on our drawings. For example, an assembly has two variants that are the same except for the Battery Pack (lithium or alkaline) and Circuit Board (Lithium or alkaline). In the drawing Parts List we will have a "-1" and "-2" "QTY REQD"...

Thermal Gap Pad for shock mounting?

Thanks for all your feedback. After further research I've concluded that a gap pad won't provide adequate shock/vibration protection (yes, it's fragile). A flexible copper strap(s) with foam is the direction I'm will likely take this design. Regards to all, Greg

Thermal Gap Pad for shock mounting?

Thanks for your responses. More specifics on my problem: The 35W heat is dissipating from a cylinder 2.5"dia x 5"long. The sealed enclosure is 6"wide x 10"long x 12"tall and contains other items inside. The internals need to be shock mounted internally. No external shock mounting is possible...

Thermal Gap Pad for shock mounting?

My basic problem is to ruggedize (ie. shock mount) a heat-generating device (35 Watts) inside a sealed enclosure. I am considering using thermal gap pad material (Chomerics or 3M), but it is still very stiff...does anyone have experience using this material? are there alternative materials/ideas...

    Film Coefficient of Salt Water

Montemayor, I've left off a lot of detail. There are really two heat sources (90W total), and internal structure to conduct heat to the outer cylinder (4.50 inch dia). The cylinder diameter is a rigid parameter, the length less so. My FE thermal analysis gives me an internal cavity temp of...
