    grinding wheel question

Jaydenn, You also say "if you are spinning at 40 RPM you will traverse the part in 1 minute." how are you coming up wth this conclussion?

Jaydenn, You seem to have gotten very close to my result. Where does the 3.81 come from? thanks, Joe

    grinding wheel question

After looking at my work i was in inches and not feet for my first calculation and after seeing feet/ min i saw i made a mistake too. I come up with 10in/12in *ft-1= 0.83 ft to tavel Turning operation: RPM= 12*V/pi * D = 12(60)/ 3.14 * 3 = 76.28 rev * min-1 0.06 and 0.06 are used as Ap...

    Locating- GDT

pmarc, question does not state wheather it is of asme or iso concern. Locating can be divided into three broad categories. I don't know these three categories. examples are: plane, irreg, radial, OR radial, irregular, and concentric. And a few other choices. I never learned gdt in school...

    grinding wheel question

Occupant, STNMan calculated 33 minutes and you calculated 3 minutes. Something doesn't seem right

    Locating- GDT

On the topic of 'locating' what are the three broad categories? I think it is irregular, concentric, and plane. I could be wrong. It is a hw question that i can't seem to find in the book or online. thanks

Pipe Flow from resovior to machining center

28-32m/sec came from our parent company. They are european and design and modify alot of their machines for our business. Yes, i agree it will be alot of fluid spraying at the grinding site.

    grinding wheel question

i get 28.2 minutes. I don't think that is right though. I am using the time to machine equation for a turning operation. Tm= (L + Ap + Ao)/ f x rpm The rpm i find is very low. 14 rpm

    grinding wheel question

Hi all, I am looking to find how long it takes a grinding wheel to tavel 10'' along a workpiece. The grinding wheel revolves at 60 fpm. My grinding wheel is 16'' in OD and 1'' wide. The workpiece diameter is 3''. feed is 1/4'' per revolution. I cannot seem to find the correct equation. thanks

    Reamer question

Hi all, If a reamer cuts oversize and leaves behind a bellmouthed shape at beginning of the hole. What is my problem? Do i need another reamer or is it the alignement of the work piece with the tool? thanks

Pipe Flow from resovior to machining center

Ha. I understand you know more about this than i do. I will need to consult with the machine maker? about the discharge capacity as well as the operating point. I don't quite understand the direction i need to go in. I believe our parent company reduced the size of the pipes and made sure...

Pipe Flow from resovior to machining center

cvg, The machinings have their own pumps as well. I think we can use the same piping and simply turn up the velocity of the pumps in the machines. There is a value you can change on the controles. Then we can measure the flow rate. I am looking for 84l/min with the given pipe flutes i have...

Pipe Flow from resovior to machining center

I could probably get the pump curves if needed. System loss can be calculated as well then. I believe our parent company had our supplier of the resovior modify their design so that each machine has its own pump. I don't know how they approached the problem but they are just telling us to...

Pipe Flow from resovior to machining center

we need a certain velocity so that as the material is ground it is removed in the same pass. To do this we must match the grinding wheel speed to the velocity of the oil. I think we can use the same piping. All we have to do is increase the velocity of the pumps inside the machines to...

Pipe Flow from resovior to machining center

Only 1 feedpump runs at a time. The other is a autobackup. Feed opening lines are 2'' female parts. I calculate my velocity to be between 22-32m/sec with either a 3m or 2.5mm OD pipe ID. To acheive the second velocity i will need to increase the velocity of the machine or increase the...

Pipe Flow from resovior to machining center

high pressure pumps by Grundfos 50 HZ 3Mot. filter pump is a mtr15-12/2. what does this mean? The lines coming off the pumps are bigger and seem to have a thicker wall than coolant lines in the machines. There is a filter pump, fast fill pump, presure flash pup and cooler pump.
