    Offset Staggered Weld Notation

After thinking about it, I answered my own question. The offset between welds is determined by the bead length and pitch. No help is needed!

    Offset Staggered Weld Notation

See the attached image for the staggered offset fillet weld I want to be applied. The black blobs are weld bead. I found a site that shows the image in the lower right hand corner, but the weld is different than what I want. It shows the start of the second bead at the end of the first bead...

Can I do this with a chamfer?

I figured as much. I didn't realize you had to select the Vertex radio button. Thanks!

Can I do this with a chamfer?

Please see the attached image. I made an extrude cut of a triangle on a diagonal of the cube. Can I make the same geometry with a chamfer or some other way that doesn't involve creating a new plane?

Exporting individual line lengths to spreadsheet

I ended up using design tables and using arc length dimensions. To kellnerp: an ideal racing line is a constant arc, although this is very hard to actually do, which is why simulations can only be so accurate. Thanks for the help though.

Exporting individual line lengths to spreadsheet

I'm helping to develop a lap simulator in MATLAB. A racing course is divided into straights and corners having various lengths and arc lengths. The simulator does math to approximate lap times. I have sketched the course in SW using lines and tangent arcs to create a planar, closed profile...

    Linear Pattern with Increasing Size

I have attached an example of using the vary sketch feature, but I need to know how to modify it. As you can see in the part, the linear pattern is derived from the distance between the center of each circle. Because of this, the edges must get closer together as the radius increases. How can I...

    Can't Resize "S" Shortcut Menu

Yes! I always run SolidWorks on my secondary monitor, but moving the application to the main monitor let's me change the size! Thank you! Now, I can change size, add or subtract features, but I put the fastening feature onto the shortcut bar, but now it won't let me delete it. I can delete...

    How to reduce file size.

Speedpak is another way if you don't need to keep feature history.

    Exit Edit Component Shortcut?

Good call. In case anyone else is wondering, the edit component icon must be put into the part S key shortcut box, not the assembly.

    Exit Edit Component Shortcut?

Is there a shortcut to exit from "edit part" or "edit assembly" while in another assembly? I often edit parts while still in the assembly file, and I don't want to go up to the command manager to exit from "edit part"; rebuild just rebuilds the part (which it should). Any suggestions?

Why are these view toggles greyed out!?

It should also appear in the "heads up" view tool bar as a pair of glasses with a drop down menu arrow next to it. From there you can select what you want to show/hide.

    Can't Resize "S" Shortcut Menu

Good to know. Thanks for the tip.

    Can't Resize "S" Shortcut Menu

I have been able to in the past as well. Now it's being stubborn.

    Can't Resize "S" Shortcut Menu

So there's no way to reset it? As I said, it won't let me drag to resize.

    Can't Resize "S" Shortcut Menu

I have an issue with the shortcut box. It won't resize. I try to drag the edges to resize it, the mouse changes to the double-arrow, but dragging any edge in sketch, part, assembly, or drawing won't resize the box. If I add more buttons to the box, it just adds them to the bottom of my 1 column...

    Basic Heat Transfer Question

I have a thermal imaging camera at my disposal. I know I could test it, but I was hoping it would be simpler to crunch numbers. As was stated, I haven't taken heat transfer yet, and it sound like it's not a straight forward answer so maybe testing is the best solution.

    Linear Pattern with Increasing Size

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. Do you know what makes it greyed out sometimes?

    Basic Heat Transfer Question

Interesting. Can you estimate how hot just a heat shield would get?

    Linear Pattern with Increasing Size

I want to make a drill bit organizer. It consists of sheet metal with a hole for each size of drill bit. A very basic part, I just want to know if there is a shortcut in the modeling. My plan is to linear pattern (sketch or feature) a single hole. My question is, is there a way to linear pattern...
