material shear due to bolt load

Thank you very much, How much do you think this would cost to have it done professionally? AM

material shear due to bolt load

element is a 250x250x30mm piece of glass with a 16 mm bolt in the centre I’ve fixed the bolt hole and applied the load to one face of the glass Thanks I am just trying to see if the connection is safe

material shear due to bolt load

Hi thanks for the reply What it shear damage initiation criterion? Also what criteria would you recommend? Also I only have student edition 1000 nodes Many thanks

material shear due to bolt load

Hi This is my stress output the element is a 250x250x30mm piece of glass with a 16 mm bolt in the centre. The glass is loaded with 1kN of force Does this look about right?https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=26cfd41b-ea66-41ef-8490-3d9c67ef6db4&file=Bolt_1_V_mises.pdf

material shear due to bolt load

Hi When using abaqus to check if an element is failing in shear what's the check that you need to carry out as I am assuming that the program will not tell you it is failing? I am trying to find the maximum load on a single bolt single shear assembly in a brittle material. Many thanks AM

    reaction forces

Hi Thanks for the reply 2 more questions please 1- when I plot the graph of reactions I am getting a separate line for each node rather than a total 2 - how do you read a abaqus.rpt file? Thanks

    reaction forces

Hi Thanks at the moment I am just probing values and summing them?

does any one on here do this for a living?

    reaction forces

I am analysing a flat plate with UDL (inputted as a pressure) 3.1 x 1.2 m UDL = 700N/m2 total load = 2600N I have 62 nodes around the perimeter my RF is coming out really small - nodal RF = circa 0.2 I am assuming this should be N 0.2x(3.1x2+1.2x2)= 1.72N where as it should be -...

    Creating a report

Hi How would you go about doing it manually ? I guess it’s not print screen paste Thanks

    Creating a report

Hi Can somebody let me know what is the best way to export the results into a presentable report? I am analysing reaction forces from a glass plate Thanks Andy

    strange deflection shape

Hi Thanks for the answers Its a glass beam with a line load added as a pressure (1.25 kN/m) = (1.25*1000/0.3 = 40667) 3100mm long 300 mm deep 30mm wide fixed (x,y,z)at the two ends only Thanks Andy

    strange deflection shape

Hi Does anyone know why this is happening (On the attachment) and is not a nice smooth curve? Thanks in advance Andyhttps://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=22e75399-5a11-4b8f-b1b4-d91894ee9e64&file=fin_deflection_error.pdf

    Node forces

Hi Am I right in assuming that the reactions at all the supported nodes should be equal to total load applied? Many thanks

    tension force

Hi Feaway I don't think I have applied symmetry boundary? where do I find it to apply it Your help is much appreciated

    tension force

Hi I have now modelled this as a 1 sided model i.e. supported on 3 sides. I can see it deflecting on the unsupported side which means there is tension on the rear side of the plate but how can I get ascertain the amount of tension at a mid span node? Many thanks Andy

    tension force

Hi thanks for the reply The only thing I need to know is the max amount of tension in the siliconed joint kN/m Cheers

    tension force

Hi I am trying to model 2 panes of glass butt up next to each other. Both fixed on 3 sides and fixed to each other at the edge joint using silicon As these deflect there will be tension load between the panes where they are butted together Could anyone suggest how to model this? Thanks Andy

    templates

Hi I am trying to create a template i.e. a plate with the correct section properties. But then I want to keep one as a template and open it change the plan sizes and save it as a new element/ job but when I am trying to do this I am just re writing over the initial template and instead of...
