Going to setup a new workstation from scratch with AutoCAD 2009 on an HP Compaq desk top (dream machine). Any recommendations on the HP Compaq desk top would be appreciated. I’m in NZ so what we get here at times are slightly different specs to else where, but any recommendations would be great.

ACAD 2008 allows you to import DGN V8 files. Only just arrived a few days back so still looking at what's new. Looks good all the same.

Thanks Burgunit LISP routine worked well, it extracted the xref names as I wanted. Any ideas on how to pull the list into my drawing automaticly so it can be printed?

Is there away of extracting the xref file names loaded in a drawing. So that the file names can be printed on the drawing, say using a field. Is there a system variable that this info is stored in?

Thanks dik I have the autosaves and other temp files going to designated locations. It was just the drawing bak files I wanted to move to another location other than the same directory that the drawing file resided in. borgunit was right on the button

Thanks for your advice on voloview. We tried it but the engineers like CADwizz Max better. We have since been in touch with the writers, the problem we are haveing is known and is currently being address, they say an upgrade is not to far away.

Have a look at this site http://www.xanadu.cz We trialed a number of programmes and the results were not great!!. We ended up purchasing Excellink 2000, and its great. Easy to manipulate and worth the money.
