I'm working on an inspection fixture for a shaft that has a 0.02 Runout called out on the drawing. I'm not experienced in designing inspection gages and fixtures, so I've been reading up on it and I came across the 10% rule, that inspection gage tolerance should be about 10% of the tolerance it is inspecting. I understand how it applies to things like plug gages, so does that also mean that the spindle which will hold the part should have a Runout tolerance of 0.002?
