2 inspections per vessel 1

Hi All,

My company manufactures 2ft x 4ft all the way up to 3ft x 8ft ASME CODE pressure vessels. We manufacture about 15 a week and currently have to have the AI inspect the vessel before we weld the second head on and then again after it is welded/at pressure test.

Is there a way to design the vessels so that we do not have to do 2 separate inspections per vessel?

UG-97 is pretty clear that internal inspection shall be done if possible prior to closure and external inspection at time of hydro. UG-90 states these inspections shall be made by the AI.
