We have a 42" ; 2 piece side entry ball valve, 300# used for subsea application to be installed on PLEM.
The question is for 2piece side entry ball valve which has a welded body, the welding point is potential for leakage..so how can it be avoided..the body is forged..and does the welded part needs 100% radiography and seal welded..??
Does anyone has experience in this..

Can you share a drawing / sketch / photo ans I'm confused which part you're talking about. If it's a welded body where is the two piece part?

Welding point is not normally a point of leakage....

Have you confused flanged with welded?

Hey LittleInch,
Thanks for reply.

I am referring to the weld where the two piece is welded.

Is it not prone to leakage..??
And is this weld needs to be radiographed and what type of weld is preferred??

Welds are not "prone to leakage".

I imagine the valve mfr does RT these welds and the body is subject to a 1.5 x DP hydro.

Type of weld??

You need to really be asking the vendor these questions, but I think you're finding issues where none exist.
