1. I am running NX 7.0 and forgot where the setting is for view resolution. My circles look like triangles and squares. Can you tell me where to look?

2. Is there a setting that allows you to print shaded views? My print setting "Output" only shows color wireframe and b&w wireframe. I used to be able to do this, I am not sure what was changed. I am using a canon iX7000.

1. It looks for me more a screen resolution setting than NX setting. Not sure.

2. In NX 7.5 modelling and drafting there is a "shaded" option in addition to the two what you mentioned. Switch the source to "current display" and try.

In Drafting you can use the plot command as well by setting Colors to as displayed under color and width tab.

To control display resolution, go to...

Preferences -> Visualization -> Line

...where you can change the 'Curve Tolerance' which will effect how Wireframe geometry will appear. To control the display of solid/sheet bodies, go to...

Preferences -> Visualization -> Faceting

...where you can control the display resolution of shaded models.

As for printing, if it's a Modeling view, then in the Print dialog there is an 'Output' option to print 'Shaded'. However, if you're printing a Drawing, make sure that the 'Export Shaded Geometry as Wireframe' is toggled OFF.

Than the problem may be with the driver software for your printer.

I changed my customer defaults/ visualization/ faceting tolerance to extra fine. When I open a SolidWorks part, I have to go to preferences/ faceting (the tolerances are correctly set) and ok to get the view settings to apply. Is there a refresh/ rebuild that would update the view settings?

Try checking this; go to...

Preferences -> Visualization Performance -> General Graphics

...and mid-way down the page check if the 'Render Solids Using Stored Facets' option is toggled ON. If so, this means that you have to manually force a display update to effect the 'quality' of a shaded view of your model. If it's toggled OFF the model should update automatically.

I'm sorry but I don't know any other way to describe a MENU BAR PATH without resorting to doing a video which I'll gladly do, but which I think will make you feel like an even bigger 'idiot' once you see what it was that I was trying to describe.

When I read your post, you put in bold 'Preferences -> Visualization Performance -> General Graphics' and dropped a line and said '...and mid-way down the page check if the 'Render Solids Using Stored Facets' option...'
I see the bold 'inappropriate post...' ect all over the page and I looked past the bold text path you gave me and started reading at the ...and mid-way... Sorry about that. I will take more time to read everything.

How do I manually force a display update?

You can do a Display Update by going to...

View -> Layout -> Update Display

Now if you think that you're going to do this a lot, may I suggest that you edit (using Customize) the View Pop-Up menu and enable the 'Update Display' option, that way you can update your display at any time by just pressing MB3 and selecting 'Update Display'. Or you could make it even easier by doing what I've done, adding an Icon to one of the Toolbars and programming it to execute an 'Update Display' whenever I select it.

Note that these display settings and update options will ONLY have an effect when you're working in the actual piece part model or in an assembly where the components are NOT being displayed using 'Lightweight' representations.
