2 quick questions 1

2 quickies here...I recently had to roll back from using 2002 to 2000.

First off...I got used to, in 2002, having the ability to do a <CTRL>-A to select all elements in a drawing. 2000 doesn't seem to support this. I thought this was a windows based feature, but perhaps I am mistaken. Does anyone know a way to implemet the "select all" feature in one nice neat key stroke?

Also, looking through the file options set up, I was trying to remember which section controled your default file location for opening and saving files. Which tree do you modify to set those properties?

I think ctrl+A is working in 2000. Did You check "options" -> user settings -> windows short cuts...

The default opening folder is set through the ShortCut that starts AutoCAD. Right click the shortcut and fill in "Start In"

I checked on the short cut change. Worked like a charm. I also checked the ctrl-a in the options menus. I have the standard windows accelerator keys option checked, but I get no select all option on the drop down menu and I don't get the ctrl-a keystroke to work either. I'm going to have to keep looking.

It appears that I do not have an acad.mnu file. I did pull back all of my .mnu files related to AutoCad, but didn't see anything that would appear to be the main menu file. Would it be named something different? I tried appending your section to a couple of mnu files, but it didn't do the job. Any suggestions?

Type MenuName at the command line in AutoCAD to see what menu you are using and where it is.

Thanks for the tips. I never really played with the menu files before. As Exxit pointed out, it looks like ctrl-A is not an option in 2000. What a crock. I did find the acad.mnu file thanks to IFRs idea, but even adding the "ID_SelAll [CONTROL+"A"]" from Lothar's post, it still does not recognize the command.

One thing I do find strange is that when I did a search for the acad.mnu file, it didn't come up in the results. I must have missed an option on the search.

Just a note, changing the .mnu file doesn't change your menu unless it is recompiled. You can do a few things.. You can change the .mnu and .mns files to match. You can delete the .mns, .mnr, .mnc files (AutoCAD recompiles them from the .mnu if they are missing). You can reload the menus inside AutoCAD also. Just a few tips.. Good luck.
