2 wheel self balancing scooter

Dear members,
i have 2 hub motors off 36v and 400 watt each.
should i use 2 controllers to control both motors or a single controller can be use to control both hub motors.

and what will be the case if i use noormal bldc motor instead of hub motor?

my target is that, a scooter can carry a person of 150kg

An all-wheel drive scooter? Depends on the terrain whether you want different controllers or not. On a paved street, you don't want them fighting each other, but in the mud you might want different speeds per wheel...

With torque control you don't have to worry about them fighting.

Hi I was goin to suggest looking at edaboard's forum but I guess your the same guy. But for the benefit of other members I would suggest to search for self balancing scooters there aswell, theres some realy smart peole on there too especially with the knowledge needed for motor controllers.

Like I said on there I'd go for 2 controllers as single controllers can be give a poor ride. As for the motors definitely go with hubs, they are heavier and generally not as efficient but with something like a self balancing scooter any gains with weight and efficiency will not out-weigh the loss of space and ease of maintenance. We're looking at developing a large off road self balancing scooter (imagine a segway x2 without handlebars) and were still indecisive about using hub motors or brush-less. However, this is different as the demands are very different and still the only way to know for sure is through testing. Id love to hear from your findings, however, I'd play it safe and go for hub motors
