I'm looking for a kitchen extract canopy that delivers 20L/s extraction in order to meet Building Regulations TGD Part J (Ireland) as there is a gas appliance (stove) in the room,

Can anyone recommend one or is there another way to do it?

Hi Stadamack,

Possibly you mean 20L/s per something! Right? According to DW171, there is method-7 finding approximate flow rate for canopies and stating that 15-20L/s air extraction per kitchen area. What i try to say you miss something, after clarifying this, maybe we can help.

Emre

That seems to be minimum requirement per code, but it's not sufficient for your hood to actually work.

There are geometrical requirement as regards to kitchen equipment working area, but even more important fume calculation for kitchen equipment.

Simplified, if you would really put some hood with 20 l/s and mass of fume produced by equipment is much larger, your hood would not work, and safety function related to gas appliances would not be satisfied as well.
