Hi, I am looking at a few applications where I would like to pull in a 2D image and create a 3D model around that.

I have been using the raster command to pull in a jpeg onto an extruded rectangle and am now looking at how to cut or mold the rectangle around the 2 image.

I have attached where I have got to so far, can anyone help me with what to use for the next stage to create a prism of the 2D image.

Thanks

Do you want to cut the outline of Ireland from that block ?
There are , I think, 2 options.
Ether you create a sketch ( or use non parametric lines) and click away on tracing the outline . But, DO NOT attempt to parameterize an eventual Sketch, there is no point in that at all, also, toggle of the create auto constraints. these dimensions will clutter the display.
in that perspective a non parametric "heap of curves" is better. You can scale the finished either set of curves or the cut solid.
or
Download InkScape and follow Anthony Galante guide on how to trace a bitmap to a vector outline
might be a little less precise but way, way, faster than the first alternative.
the video :

Make sure that the profile is "watertight" when extruding ( highlighted by NX with large asterixes) and that it does not have duplicate curves.
