I have to modify an antiquated water header. It is made up primarily of 3-1/2" pipe. 4" and 3" fittings are not a problem......3-1/2" fittings and pipe......well.... not so easily found.

Does anyone have a source for fittings and pipe of this size?

I assume you mean 3 1/2" nominal.

But what is the actual OD and ID?
Pipe material?

It is listed in ASME B36.10 as an official size, but then so is 5" and I've never seen it either.
OD 4.00" DN 90 / OD 101.6mm

3.1/2” is very odd to me as well, but 5” is something we’re using right now on a repeat job. Not thát strange, to me

LittleInch:

The building was built in 1944 as a wood treatment and cabinetry shop. There are A LOT of things that were done an used in that time frame that are long since forgotten. However, to answer your question, it is malleable steel. The pipe fittings are cast with 3 1/2 on them...soooo, there's that. And the OD is approximately 4 inches.

Thanks for the leads. FYI, here is one I found through the grape vine.

Hi Matt,

Have you consider to replace header with 4" Nominal pipe?
Otherwise, contact your local piping supplier. They probably would be long lead items.

Thanks,
Curtis
