Can someone please help me with this? I've had this happen for a long time and I can't for the life of me figure out why the 3 point center rectangle tool just doesn't work like it should.

I make the outline:

But then it just turns to this:

The entire drawing just pops off center for no apparent reason...

What SP are you running? I'm pretty sure that issue was corrected some time ago.

Ahhhh... I see. I'm only running 2009 sp0.0, so looks like I need to upgrade. Good to know that it's a bug and that I'm not doing something wrong.

1) Do you really use that orange background all the time? My eyes would be bleeding within minutes.

2) I'm currently using SW09-SP3 and SW2010 Beta and it's happening in both. It only appears to happen when the centre of the rectangle is in line with the centre of the bar.

You should create a video (Rx or screen capture) and submit it to your VAR.

Hmm, I was pretty sure they fixed it. I did submit an SPR for it. Anyway, in the meantime you can bypass this behavior (behaviour for CBL) by holding down Ctrl while clicking the second point of the three. Holding down Ctrl prevents automatic relations, which is what is causing the problem. Downside of this is that you will have to manually create a horizontal or vertical relation to constrain the rectangle's rotation.
