316 Fasteners Made in Taiwan or 18-8 Fasteners Made in USA 1

Headline says it all. Both sourced from McMaster for structural application.

Which would you choose?

Same strength? Same spec?
It doesn't really matter.
The 316 may be a little more corrosion resistant but the difference is very small.

Surprised the 316 was marginally cheaper, but then noticed country of origin.

The nice thing about annealed austenitic stainless steel fasteners for safety critical applications is that it will be hard for a vendor to supply anything weaker than what you specified.

Who uses annealed SS fasteners?
The galling makes them self-locking and single use I guess.
I have never used any that didn't have cold rolled threads.
Of course, with both of these all you know is where the fastener was made, nothing about where the steel is from.
