Im using small springs approx .188 x .025wire x 1". I have the choice of 302 or 316 stainless. I believe that 316 has slightly better corrosion resistance, but what about temperature? In an operating temperature of 300-350F, which grade is better about retaining its memory and force? Will 302 have better fatigue resistance and retain its force longer than 316? Will they produce very similar results, or will one material be more likely to take a set? The spring will be constantly changing, but never go past recommended deflection. The spring will not be in any corrosive fluids.
In the end, Im sure I will do testing, but I wanted to see if anyone had any input on the subject.
thanks
