Looking for material properties between the two 416 stainless steel conditions. I only found hardness difference.

I have a specification control drawing that calls for type 416 condition H, but supplier of part told us they are using 416 condition T. Making drawing changes for other reasons, and was asked to change this specification so they can stay compliant. Need to provide justification for this change to engineering. I figure comparing properties between the two types would be the first step (maybe only step if there is not much difference). Parts are for small 5V DC motor shaft and housing.

Do others know of sources to find this type of info? Online search was unsuccessful. The component design textbook I have only had one entry for 416 H&T.

Personally I've never seen a reference to 416 H or 416 T.
Can you go back and review your specifications since I think you answered your own question. The reference to 416 H.T. or 416 H and T appears to relate to a normal cal lout for 416 material such as 416 SS H&T, meaning the material is heat treated and tempered as received.

ASTM A 582/A 582M Standard Specification for Free-Machining Stainless Steel Bars is the pertinent industry standard for Type 416 bars. This specification indicates three delivery conditions:

A = annealed
T = intermediate temper
H = hard temper

The hardness requirements (Brinell hardness HB) for Type 416 are as follows:

A = 262 max
T = 248-302
H = 293-352

The following datasheet from Cartech shows some typical tensile strengths for the various conditions (scroll to the bottom of the page under Other Information --> Forms Manufactured).

Thank you TVP for your post.

I was not able to find the datasheet you referenced. I may have misunderstood your directions, because I can't seem to find Other Information on the bottom of this page or any other link or forum with Other Information.

Can you do a little more hand holding to a novice of this site? Thank you.

Sorry about the misdirection, must have been another senior moment. I looked at 3 catalogues/brochures and none had the H or T suffix designation.
