I am looking to find the shear capacity of 5/8 gyp. There is 2 layers on one side of the wall and another layer on the other side of the wall. The load applied to the wall is greater than the 250plf value found in IBC 2015 Table 2306.3(3). I am pretty sure that you cannot just multiply the 250 by 2 if there were 2 layers on the other side as well but i am having trouble finding anything in the code that supports that.
Any guidance or help with this issue would be appreciated, Thanks!

Okay, i believe it is Sections 4.3.3.3 & 4.3.3.3.1 in the SDPWS 2015
Thank you

Be careful mixing SDPWS tables and IBC tables. SDPWS tables are nominal capacity and must be reduced to allowable capacity by the appropriate factor. IBC tables are allowable capacity but still have to be reduced an additional 25% for seismic loading... Confusing, I know.

As far as the combination of the materials on each side, make sure you are summing the allowable capacities of each respective side (ex. 250plf allowable for the (2) layers of gyp with each layer attached to fully blocked wall per the table you referenced + an additional 145 plf for the gyp on the other side)

Just a heads-up I do not know many engineers in my area who allow gyp shear walls to take this much load. You are approaching or even exceeding the allowable capacity of some plywood sheathed shear walls. Also, the attachments and blocking required are well beyond what most gyp installers are used to and very difficult to police (the inner layer fasteners are covered by the outer layer).
