Hi all
First time poster!

I cannot find anything about this on the internet or referenced standards... Can anyone offer some insight?

So in the Australian Standard AS NSZ 1734:1997 it references that 5083 aluminium plate should "Not to be used above 65ºC" but doesn't say why. I keep seeing this pop up but no one is explaining why? The mechanical properties don't seem to start degrading until 65ºC (from what I can find)

Please help!
Steve

The properties drop fast in these alloys. By 150C you are at 70% of room temp strength.
Even if at 65C you are only down 15%, that means that a design that had SF 3 at room temp is only SF 2.5 at 65C.
You can get in trouble quickly.
The application should say 'un-heated pressure vessels'.
