Hi,
I know that there are some discrepancies in the applicability of PED directive for centrifugal pumps.
Can anybody tell me his experience with this issue?
Is it correct to say that the 'design critical factors' in centrifugal pumps are mechanical forces, vibrations and not pressure? If it is, then the PED directive would not be applicable.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

PED is applicable for pumps. The casing is viewed as a pressue vessel. If it shall be CE marked or not depends on fluid categories installation zone etc.

Best regards

If API 610 provisions are anything to compare with, please note that stamping is specifically NOT required for pumps - see API 61O - 2.2.1

API standards are not applicable in Europe - allthough the methodes described may be used for technical verification or they are similar to European standards.

It may be that design performed to US standard can be accepted by European goverments - but its not guarateed

Best regards

Morten
