A New Twist...

Oh god. I can see this getting a few nicknames if it ever takes off.

Think Vibrator, Rabbit and D1ldo for starters....

And calling it a turbine is just plain stupid. Call it a magic wind generator or "green with the wind" or anything rather than "turbine".

Rather worrying lack of technical data and it's difficult to see how you would scale it up without the whole place starting to vibrate...

So an early prototype and some free publicity. But the 2.75 version is rated apprently at 100W.
And they are not for sale.

I can imagine the interesting harmonics and music created... might give vortex shedding a whole new arena...

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Old news. Same game of obfuscating actual power output vs wind vs size figures that all the other hucksters play.

WOW! It can light a few LEDs up..

Seems like the company is marketing the technology more as a luxury, rather than a necessity. Given the small scale and presumably lower cost, one has to wonder why it's not already in production.

I don't know... I thought it was a neat concept.

I can see a field of these things... spaced far enough apart to keep from colliding with each other... Rather than smacking birds with their giant props... I can see them clubbing the little critters... scalable? that's one of the main issues with windtunnel studies...

The issue isn't with the structure, per se, although that doesn't look scalable either, it's the electromagnetics; it's not clear that the described approach for the electrical generation is scalable.
