Hi.
My Abaqus/Explicit seems to have a problem.

If I do not request history output in my Input file, the program runs without errors, but If I request the history output, the program doesn't run even though other command lines are exactly same.

The error message is
"ABAQUS/Explicit Packager exited with an error - Please
see the status file for possible error messages if the file exists."
(The error file could not be found)

So, I can not see any output results even though my program runs because I can not request history output.
I don't know why this happens. Is this related to the Abaqus licence?

It is a pity that I couldn't attach the input files.
I am a sort of desperate because I made an every effort to figure out this problem, but I couldn't.

Please help me.

Hi
try checking the jobname.time file. It is generated when you run ABAQUS in the background "i.e., in Unix/Linux using the & at the end of the command line"
abaqus job=jobname ..... &

Hi

What syntax have you used in the input deck? Normally, the line;

*output, history, variable=preselect

..works fine.

Martin

My ABAQUS version is 6.5.1, and I am running ABAQUS in Window OS not Unix/Linux. So, There is no jobname.time file. Instead, I checked *.dat file and *.log file. But. there is no error message in *.dat file. In *.log file, there is an error message as follows
---------------------------------------------------------
"ABAQUS/Explicit Packager exited with an error - Please
see the status file for possible error messages if the file exists."
"ABAQUS/Analysis exited with erors."
---------------------------------------------------------

And, I just used default values at the histroy command line as follows
---------------------------------------------------------
*Output, history, frequency=200
*Node Output, nset=LP
RF2, U2
---------------------------------------------------------

But, It does not run. If I remove those lines above, the program run. What is going on on my computer?
Please help me.

Hi

Try adding variable=preselect to the *output card and remove the frequency=200, so you have;

*Output, history, variable=preselect
*Node Output, nset=LP
RF2, U2
..
.
etc

Martin

Thank you for your reply, Martin.

But, unfortunately, same error still happens.
Is there other ways to figure out?

Hi..
if you don't acquire a .time file then check the status file jobname.sta at least one of them should exist!

regards

Thank you. iyassk.
There is a *.sta file. But, there is nothing inside the file. *.sta file size is zero.

Best regards,

Dear

1. First, you can not see the result, althought you see running comeplete. Actually, the computer do not know what to calculate, so only complete for imputting the file, not for calculating.
2. When you request for hisory, error massege appear, it tell you that your model have some problem. Don't spend time for "request for history", just think about the other things in your model, there are something wrong.
3.In explicit analysis, error messeges often stay in .sta file (not in .msg). So try to find it and take care of this file.

I got a message from ABAQUS Inc. regarding my problems as follows.
-----------------------------------------------------------
There is a bug (attached below) existing in v6.5 and the bug has been fixed in v6.6. You job works fine in v6.6. It's time for you to use ABAQUS version v6.6. :)

Thanks,
Xuemei
