When you have a shaft with an area which has a cover of tungsten carbide or ceramicic, and this area happens to be where the collar of the mechanical seal is placed, it is well known that the set screws could damage this area and slide because of the hardness of the surface. Because of this to use an abutment ring could be the solution, the thing is that I would like to know If there's a calculus for estimating possible sliding. I would really like to know your comments.
