What is the best filler metal for GTAW welding of Alloy 20 stainless steel pipe?

The "best" is somewhat subjective. Least cost? Most corrosion resistant?

We use E/ER320LR, E/ERNiCrMo-3 and other more corrosion resistant Nickel base filler metals; e.g., E/ERNiCrMo-4, etc.

What about ER 320LR? This is the recommended filler wire by some manufacturers?

Yes, this could be used. What is the service application of the 20Cb-3 stainless steel?

If they are using 20 them I assume that they are after acid resistance.
I which case you had better use a stabilized 20 chemistry for filler.

Welds made with ER320 are highly susceptible to hot cracking. the use of ER320LR greatly minimizes its potential.

I concur with stanweld; welding with 320 can be tricky because things need to be kept ultra-clean to avoid hot cracking. It might be easier to resort to some of the Ni alloys already posted above.

In my experience cleanliness is critical when welding any of the Ni alloys. ER320LR should be fine from a welding standpoint. We use it regularly. Use the same good practices you would use for any Ni alloys and you'll be fine.
