Acceptance criteria for Corroded flange facing

Hi everybody,

Now, we encountered with internal corrosion at Valve that damage the facing of flange as attached photo's but the problem is We can not find the Reference code or recommend best practice for Acceptance or Rejection these valve due to gasket contacting surface was corroded. anyone experience to this problem, please advise. What criteria shall be use for reference.

for this cased: approximate 40% of gasket contacting surface was corroded.

Use the criteria in MSS-SP-44 (Steel Pipeline Flanges). See clause 7.4.

Your example looks a bit rough...unlikely it will pass...
 
If it leaks, replace or repair. From the looks of it, it very well may leak when re-installed with a new gasket.
There is no reference Code to provide you a go/no-go as to repair/replace of installed operating systems other than leakage.

Now, we found ASME PCC-1 Appendix D. Let discuss, since ASME PCC is designed for PE that it has been placed in-service but it look more conservative for me. What do you think about this Appendix D?
