I am trying top determine what the load factors and resistance factors were from the 1983 ACI-318 code.

Mainly I am looking for the factors for the DEAD and LIVE loads as well as the resistance factors for FLEXURE, COMPRESSION, and SHEAR. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nilsson and Winter's 1986 book on reinforced concrete design has a table of load factors from the 1983 ACI code, to wit:

U = 1.4 D + 1.7 L, etc.

Resistance factors for flexure = .9
for axial comp = .7
for axial tension = .9
for shear = .85

wubwub,

DaveViking is correct. I have the 1983 code (actually all of them from 1963) and the only addition to DaveViking's list is that phi for axial compression/axial compression with flexure with spiral reinfrocement is 0.75.

FYI, the 1963 code used 1.5D + 1.8L and the 1971 code was the first to go with 1.4D + 1.7L.

Thank you both for the answer. The person who used to have the old codes in the office took them with him when he left.

Thanks
