Adding clip art / OLE objects into weldment cut list tables

Does anyone know if the following is possible in SW?

Once the weldment is created & a cut list is inserted into the drawing we have to save it away as a txt file so that we can modify it in MS Word to add clip art items showing the cut direction i.e for example if a piece of RHS is cut 45° each end. The cuts could be parallel, opp directions, different angles & directions.
These objects coule be OLE, clip art, jpg's, bmp's or even just drawn as a symbol in SW. It seems you can only add text to a cut list table i.e adding the size of end caps etc.
It would be nice to be able to do all this in SW, so all we have to do is print out the cut list on a separate sheet, which is then given to the saw shop to cut into actual steel.

You can take a snap shot of the pic and add it to the Word doc and add to you Design Binder. It will stay with the SolidWorks file. Not sure if it is what you are looking for.

Thanks mate, but not really, we use simple views as below, i'll try!!

|______/ - cut one end

/_____/ - cut each end

These arn't great, but they give you an idea of the type of symbol used.

As long as they don't have to be associative to the table you can create blocks and drop them on a blank column of the table. It still makes for a manual table update, though.

Depending on how important this is to you, you may be able to get some freeware raster (bitmap) font creator software. You would create your symbols in that font using bitmaps to end up with a "Wingdings" type font with all your cut symbols mapped to letters. Then change the cell's font to your custom font and type in the letter for the symbol you want.

Woolly, I have a sheet for this, it is from a dutch steel suppier, it shows images & correspondig letters to indicate how to cut a certain steel profile. I can upload it tomorrow if you like? the list is pretty self explanatory (don't need to understand dutch).
You can print it and hang it next to the saw. Works great over here, we even had our VAR write a small program to recognize the profiles and fill a property with the correct letter.

Thanks for the pdf. This is the sort of thing we use anyway. But we really do need the symbol in the cutting list, rather than just a letter. Any other ideas??

Yes, you could create a custom font, still use the letters in the sheet, but replace them (in the custom font) with a symbol of you liking. Then select the cells containing the letters, uncheck 'use document font' and select your font for the proper symbols.
