Hi all,

do anyone knows what the customer Default Setting "Additional Model Reference Sets" are doing (e.g. NX8.5)?

Under the Customer Default - Assemblies - Site Standards - Tab "reference Sets", we have one Setting for the "Model Reference Set". This is clear. But at the end of this tab-list we see the "Additional Model Reference Sets", where we can set one ore more additional reference sets (delimited by spaces).
For example I have created a part which only have two Reference Sets called "LEFT" and "RIGHT" with model-geometrie for left and right. There is no reference set "MODEL" defined in that part. In the customer Default I have set the "Model Reference Set" to "MODEL" and the "Additional Model Reference Sets" to "LEFT RIGHT".
Know I load the assembly with same parts, one of them is the part with the left and right Geometrie.
All parts with a Standard reference set defined will be loaded with that reference set if I set the load-option reference-set order to "Use Model" at the top entry.
But I could not see any advantage with the "Additional Model Reference Sets".

Hi Michael,

There is one additional sentence that is displayed in the NX documentation that is not in the tool dip or customer defaults dialog description that may help to set expectations:

NX Docs said:
These reference sets are taken account of in the process of generating Teamcenter Visualization files (a Teamcenter Visualization file will be generated to represent each reference set).
It is necessary to have specified the main Model Reference Set in order for this option to have any effect.

In other words, An additional External JT file can be created for each reference set(s) in this customer default when exporting the part to JT.

Hi Joe,

thank you! Yes this works. Now I´m understanding the meaning of the additional reference sets.
