I have an adjustable part that is also simplified part. I have it in a sub assembly where it is welded to another part and must be in the simplified state. That subassembly then goes into a final assembly where it is seamed together with another part and I need the it to be adjustable. When I place it into the final assembly, the "Edit Adjustable Part" is greyed out and not available. How do I make the part adjustable in the final assembly?

I do not believe you can as I think Adjustable parts only work within the context of where they are inserted. You might be able to make your sub-assembly adjustable and then get what you want...

That is the issue, the sub assembly isnt adjustable but then needs to be when it is inserted into the final assembly.

Also, we are using Version 20 of Solid Edge

You need to make the sub-assembly adjustable in such a way that the apart will adjust as required.
I did a hydraulic cylinder with a corrugated rubber boot - the cylinder/piston assembly was not fully constrained, to allow the piston to move in/out.
The rubber boot was an adjustable part set to extend/contract as the piston moved.
This assembly was then inserted as adjustable into the next level up.
Hope this example helps.

Yeah that helps. Somehow I had a setting that wasnt allowing the adjustable window to pop up when the sub assembly was inserted. Thanks for the help.
