Hi,

Has anyone dealt with this type of fitting? We are contemplating the move (and associated cost increase) from standard JIC taper fittings.

If anyone has has good/bad experiences I would welcome any comments.

Thanks

Dave

Do you mean ORB, I've never heard of ORS, not saying it doesn't exist just never heard of it....Mike

Hi Mike,

Yeah from what I understand they are ORS, basically standard hose fittings with a flat face contact surfaces (perpendicular to pipe), one face has an embedded o-ring. Look pretty neat and are rated to 6000PSI at finger tight ...so the rep says etc ;-).

Yep, know what you mean now, didn't know the proper name, around here we just call them face seal. Never used that many of them, just as replacement for OE hoses on machinery, not much help, sorry..Mike

I've used them on several product lines for a couple of different companies. The system is pretty much everything that aeroquip, gates, parker et al say that it is. You won't have many leaks.

It is, however, much harder to get the components, lead times are much longer than JIC, and emergency parts in the field are much more difficult to come by. I've had pretty good luck shopping at the nearest Cat dealer for emergency or prototype parts. They are very pricey, but they have an excellent catalog of standard hoses and adapters. Deere also uses them as well as my old employer Ditch Witch.

I would say the step from JIC to ORS is a positive one but maybe not worth the money. It is nowhere near as big as the step from pipe thread to JIC--that one is a no-brainer.

Feel free to ask if you think I can help in any way.

Thanks,
