AISC standards vs cert?

I am looking to bid on the structural steel for a new residential construction. The structural plan state: "All structural steel shall conform to current AISC and IBC standards."

Am I correct that this does not mean my shop needs to be AISC certified? It just means the design and fabrication must meet AISC standards?

To meet the AISC standards, is that essentially having shop drawings done to AISC standards?

The way I'm reading that, it seems like you need to adhere to the AISC Specification (AISC 360) and Code of Standard Practice. I think the answer to your three questions is "yes."

I don't think the statement means you have to be an AISC whatever certified fabricator.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend looking in the project specs also.

To add on the above we always only make reference to AISC certification for the shop and erector within the specifications.

As struct notes... check the specs to see what is stipulated in case the note was on the drawing. In most jurisdictions, specs outweigh the drawings.
