Dear collages,

I want to know about any free alternative to open inp and odb archives developed by Abaqus. I've got a client who want to visualizate the models that I perform.

Thank you very much. Regards,

.inp files can be opened with any text editor.

I don't think its possible to open/view .odb files in any free software. Maybe try ParaView and hope somebody else has written a translator?

Send your client a report with the images they desire. Or if they just want to view the deformed geometry, export an .STL

Dear friend,

Thank you very much for your response. What I know is that Hypermesh can generate and open different formats of FEA sotwares. Is there any free alternative with similar characteristics, for ABAQUS mainly? Thank you very much.

Regards,

I wonder if CalculiX has a pre/post-processor that lets you visualize an Abaqus ODB. An INP is just an ASCII file; any text editor will open it; I prefer gVim. Also, LS-Pre/Post can import (at least, to some degree) an Abaqus input deck; it is a free pre/post-processor.
