hello pals:

im wondering about shpere weight that hangs as a pendullum in a very high structures i know it has something to do for dampening the lateral force action but i cant get away with my notion that this one might also amplify the force...

how does this thing work in the analysis? does this one lessen the period of vibration of the structure?, the structure drift?wher is this ussually located in the structure?

any brilliant idea and explanation will do, references even web site that tackle this subject is appreciated..

thanks in advance

the pendulum always counter the inertia forces of the building from ground shake. as simple as that. Thats why old temples in japan are proven to be seismic resistant
