How do you select a part, for inclusion in a balloon stack, when you can't see it? I've tried "select other" with less than good results. I've also tried "3D Drawing View" but the balloon stack disapears. The only reliable way that I've found is to put some sort of cut into my assembly, so I can see all the parts in the drawing view I'm ballooning, then delete or supress the cut after I create the balloons.

Does anyone have a better solution?

You should have a cut and show the parts for ballooning. Goes back to basic drafting practices again. You don't want to point to something that;s not there.

Find the part in the design tree, right click, and choose "Show hidden lines". Add your balloon to the stack and then hide the hidden lines again. If you can't select hidden lines then go to your tools-options-display/selection and enable selection of hidden lines in HLV and Wireframe.

Ah, handleman, that's the ticket. Thanks.

ctopher, I agree with what you say, up to a point. However, there are times when calling out a hidden part with a stacked balloon is all I really need. For example, a flange with an o-ring, you can see the flange and its balloon and the placement of the o-ring is not in question.

If you can't see the part you want to balloon, you can explode this individual part temporarily in a space that you can pick for your stack of balloon then delete that exploded step so part will be return its original place.
